Our Journey

Grassroots Empowerment and Development Organization (GREDO) is a nonprofit organization established and registered in 2014 in South Sudan to address critical humanitarian gaps, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. With a mission to serve the most vulnerable communities, GREDO focuses on six key thematic areas: child protection, education, food security and livelihoods, peacebuilding, health, nutrition, and WASH.

Despite the overwhelming challenges facing South Sudan, humanitarian efforts have often been concentrated in more accessible areas with better infrastructure. GREDO seeks to bridge this gap by delivering life-changing interventions in remote and underserved regions.

GREDO operates a national office in Juba, the capital city, alongside field offices in Jonglei, Lakes, and Eastern Equatoria states:

  • Jonglei State: Offices in Bor South County (serving Makuach, Baidit, Anyidi, Jiel, and Kolnyang Payams) and Pibor County (serving Pibor Centre, Verteth, Gumuruk, and Lekuangule Payams).

  • Lakes State: Office in Rumbek Town, coordinating activities across the region.

  • Eastern Equatoria State: Offices in Kapoeta Town (Kapoeta South County) and Ngauro (Budi County).

  • Central Equatoria State: Two offices in Juba – Hai Amarat (opposite Logali House) and Shirikat, overseeing projects across Juba County.

Over the past five years, GREDO has built strong partnerships with leading humanitarian organizations, including WHO, UNICEF, WFP, IOM, Internews, VISTAS, INTERSOS, Save the Children International (SCI), Live Well, Titi Foundation, THESO, War Child Holland (WCH), and others. Through these collaborations, GREDO continues to empower communities by fostering a society where children and women live in security, health, and dignity, with access to education, economic opportunities, and a supportive environment for their development.
